Melee.gg Entry Fee and Payment Policies

This page outlines our policies on entry fee collection and reimbursement procedures.
Organizers hosting tournaments with up to 128 players are not required to use Melee’s entry fee system. However, Melee reserves the right to charge platform fees or mandate the use of our system for high-volume organizers. For more details, please contact us at contact@melee.gg.
To enable entry fees on Melee, link a PayPal® account to your organization via the Edit Organization page. By activating this feature, you agree to the Melee Terms of Service and must adhere to the game’s community guidelines and policies.

Melee applies third-party processing fees and platform fees to all collected entry fees. These fees cover the costs of third-party processors and help maintain our platform.

  • USD Transactions: 8.99%
  • International Currencies: 10.99%

Players can use the following payment methods for entry fees on Melee:

American Express Discover Mastercard Visa Union Pay PayPal Venmo

Organizers can choose one of the following currencies for all transactions, including player entry fees and organizer reimbursements:

  • US Dollar
  • Canadian Dollar
  • Australian Dollar
  • Euro
  • Japanese Yen
  • Pound Sterling

Refunds are issued in the same currency as the original payment to avoid complications from currency exchange rates.

Refunds may occur in the following situations:

  • Before a Tournament
    • Players can receive automatic refunds if they unenroll from a tournament, whether done by themselves or tournament staff.
  • During a Tournament
    • Organizers can issue manual refunds through the Tournament Controller by selecting the player’s name.
  • After a Tournament
    • Organizers must contact Melee staff via contact@melee.gg to request a post-tournament refund.
  • After Entry Fee Reimbursement
    • Once entry fees have been reimbursed to the Organizer, any subsequent refunds are the Organizer’s responsibility.
When a refund is issued, third-party processors like Stripe® or PayPal® may charge a fee. Organizers are responsible for covering these fees, which will be deducted from their tournament reimbursement or invoiced if the reimbursement doesn’t cover the fees.
If a player disputes a payment, Melee will notify the Organizer, who will decide how to resolve the issue. The Organizer is responsible for any third-party processing fees associated with the dispute.
Entry fee reimbursements are processed every Tuesday for tournaments that ended at least five days prior. Reimbursements are sent to the PayPal account linked to the organization and consist of total entry fees collected, minus refund fees.
Organizers can view tournament entry records and reimbursements in their Organization Dashboard.
